Eating and drinking

Two kitchens, one of them on the sand.

Loungers on the deck at Kunta Bay
The deck outside Sandbar, where lunch happens whether or not you meant it to.

The Palm Room is the main restaurant, off the lobby, with forty covers inside and twenty on the terrace. Breakfast is a buffet from 07:00 to 10:30 with eggs cooked to order. Dinner is 19:00 to 22:30 from a menu that changes twice a week.

Guests do not need to book, but on Fridays and Saturdays the terrace fills and a table is worth asking for at breakfast.

Sandbar is a wooden building on the beach itself, open 11:00 to 18:00 for grilled fish, salads, sandwiches and cold drinks. It has no walls to speak of, so it closes when it rains.

Both kitchens are open to people not staying here. Sandbar in particular gets a lunchtime crowd from the strip.

What we can cook around.

Vegetarian, vegan, halal and gluten free are all normal here and need no notice at all. Tell the waiter. All our meat is halal because our supplier is, so that one is automatic.

For a nut allergy, a shellfish allergy or anything coeliac, tell reception the night before and the head chef will speak to you himself. Groundnut is in a great deal of Gambian cooking and we would rather have that conversation properly than guess.

Children eat at any hour. The kitchen will do plain rice, grilled chicken, pasta or chips outside service times, and there is no charge for that beyond what the food costs.

Room service runs 07:00 to 22:30 from a shortened menu. There is no tray charge.
